The module outcomes on this subject focused on Leading in a world of flux and ambiguity; Creating high-quality connections; Managing toxic relationships at work; Building individual resilience; Having the capacity and capabilities for organizational resilience; and developing a generative approach to leadership.

I chose the topic “Leadership Challenges in developing countries in Light of the global strategy for achieving clean energy initiative.”

My argument is premised on the following:

  1. I investigated the global initiative in which world superpowers launched specific initiatives aimed at achieving energy sufficiency using cleaner forms of energy. The initiative is motivated by concerns about global warming and the need to reduce carbon emissions.

  1. A blanket strategy has been proposed, and several fora have been championed, but no agreement on the approach has been reached. While major economies have achieved energy sufficiency and are looking for alternative solutions to replace fossil fuel-driven energy sources, developing economies are still grappling with a level of underdevelopment. They are focused on using every available resource to supply energy without harming the environment.

  1. Can we ever reach a consensus on an appropriate strategy that will be a fit-for-all solution across all divides and ensure that the environment is always protected? Can developing nations fashion out a fit-for-purpose strategy in view of their common challenges? Will leaders from different regions see this initiative through the same lens and come to an agreement on a workable solution? What networks will be available for Leadership to achieve these initiatives for the common good?

To support this research, a review of literature and publications will be conducted to evaluate Leadership styles across two divides (Developing and Developed) and see the contrast in their approaches and what immediate concerns they grapple with.

Apply frameworks to support styles and cultures and assess how a common or diverse strategy will be more effective in achieving the global initiative for the greater good. Determine whether technological concerns or funding needs are critical factors affecting any region in this regard.

I intend to use the below groups of Leadership Frameworks (or any other relatable ones) to deliver on the objective.

The main frameworks to focus on should try to address two or three of the following: Leading in Complex Conditions (Resilience Cycle); The Power of Doubt; Difficult Conversations; Strategic Realignment; Resilience in Action; and Plotting Strategy in a Dynamic World.

The above should be integrated with one or two Frameworks from this group: Cultural Web Cultural Influence on Strategy; Stakeholder Mapping; Value Work Model; Porter’s Five Forces; and Environmental Scanning.
