Assessment activity 1

 

How to be an effective and efficient HR professional – written discussion

 

This written discussion will allow you to demonstrate assessment criteria 1.1, 1.2, and 3.1. Your word count is 1600 words (+/- 10%). You must submit assessment activity 1 on the document DVP assessment activity 1 template. All the grey highlighted words in your template are excluded from your word count. You need to respond to the following points:

 

A).  Illustrate the nature of the work you are involved in as an HR Professional (real or otherwise). You should explain the role and contribution of an HR Professional within your organisation and with reference to the CIPD’s 2018 Profession Map, provide at least ONE example of each of the following: an area of specialist knowledge, an area of core knowledge and a core behaviour required for the role. Evaluate why you consider these examples to be (1.1)

 

B).  Undertake a self-assessment of your current capabilities as an HR professional, by using the CIPD 2018 Profession Consider at least one area of core knowledge, one area of specialist knowledge and one core behaviour (all at associate or member level). Then use this as a basis to carry out a personal SWOT analysis.

 

Identify your strengths and weaknesses in relation to the core knowledge, specialist knowledge and core behaviour (s) you have chosen, opportunities for possible development and threats to your personal/professional aspirations if you do not develop yourself. (3.1)

 

C).  Describe elements of group dynamics which may be encountered by an HR professional, and conflict resolution methods that could be (1.2)

 

 

Assessment activity 2

 

CPD plan

 

Producing your CPD plan will allow you to demonstrate criterion 3.2. There is no word count for this assessment activity. You will need to submit your work on document DVP assessment activity 2 template (CPD plan). You must respond fully to the following:

 

a). Produce a CPD plan with at least four entries. You can transfer your key learning needs from your personal Then identify at least two development activities for each of your learning needs and evaluate these activities (i.e. set out the pros and cons of each activity). Now identify your preferred options and detail how you will plan for the learning.

Maintaining your CPD record throughout the programme will allow you to demonstrate criterion 3.3. There is no word count for this assessment activity. You must submit your work on document DVP assessment activity 3 template (CPD record) and you will do this twice; once now with your initial entries, and then a completed version at the end of your programme.

 

Throughout the programme you must do the following:

 

a).  Maintain your CPD record, making a note of any learning activities you have undertaken and reflecting on what you have learnt from Go on to explain how you intend to apply your learning. Aim for a minimum of one or two entries per week.

 

b).  Submit your complete CPD record on the document DVP assessment activity 3 template (CPD record) at the end of your programme.

 

Assessment activity 4

 

Reflective blog

 

(NB This assessment activity is done and submitted at the END of your programme)

 

Writing the content of your reflective blog will enable you to demonstrate assessment criteria 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 and 3.3. Your word count is 1300 words +/- 10%. You must submit assessment activity 4 on the document DVP assessment activity 4 template. You need to respond to the following points:

 

A).  Summarise the development objectives you identified in your CPD plan at the start of the programme and reflect on how you have developed in these (3.3)

 

B). Reflect on your “learning journey” throughout the period of your programme, using real life examples (programme or work specific) with particular reference to:

 

  1. Your application of project management (2.1)
  2. Your application of problem-solving (2.2)
  3. Your application of a range of methods for influencing, persuading and negotiating with (2.3)

 

C).  Outline your future revised plans for professional (3.3)
