Future of innovation
Sterling describes a hypothetical synchronic society (chapter 6), in contrast to our current information society. Compare the characteristics of both types of society, and explain how innovation in product development could change. Be specific by working with a 2-3 of Sterling’s elements and a chosen industry or business to ground your writing. How would the structure of the company and its model of operation need to change?
Products and our relationships to them
In chapter 9, Sterling describes “gizmo wine” which comes with accompanying technocultural practices such as “unpaid promotional agent” and “wine critic” as the “end-user” of the wine (p. 70). In chapter 15, Sterling speculates that within a “spime economy”, “value transmutes into a public interaction with past and future.
